Electronic Portfolio Statement

My electronic portfolio consists of photographs of my art work from the past two years of college.
The tab on my blog, named ' Observational Drawings' shows drawings from different subjects such as Fine Art and Drawing. The first two images are from the start of my second year when I specialised in Fine Art. This was called the ' Suitcase Project' which was based on our personal items that we felt were important to us or had some sentimental value. I chose my bag to draw as it contains my daily essentials. The second photograph was one of the more enjoyable parts of that project because we were able to explore techniques using materials I was unfamiliar with and I found that my final out come was very expressive and worked well .
The next project in Fine Art was the 'Autobiographical Project' ,my favourite project from Fine Art as it was based on who I am. I began to look at topics that interested me. I choose travel and my idol , Katy Perry. I wanted to combine the two together, therefore I decided to create a portrait of Katy Perry out of maps. I thoroughly enjoyed making this final piece using materials such as wax and inks.

The next section relates to Life Drawing. I really feel that this lesson helped me to identify the different structures and shapes that make up the human form. I chose to work with acrylics because I am reminded that I can achieve brilliant tones by mixing shades of grey which emphasis the bodies shape and muscle groups.

I am currently working on a 'Landscape Project' for Fine Art, I began by taking a variety of photographs in my local area which I am very pleased and excited about because it gives me an opportunity to experiment with vivid colours and muted tones.
By using pastels and inks I can create peaceful looking scenes ,which is effective because a lot of the photographs are calm ,having subtle hints of colour. When people view my work I would like them to be blown away by my pieces. And feel as if they are standing in the scenery.

The second tab on my blog is called ' Visual Communication' this is the other subject I specialised in . Covering two projects over the second year in Visual Communication I found that my skills in Photo-Shop have improved dramatically which has helped me in my other subjects to edit images and enhance things such as the colours and quality of my work.

By going to Brighton University, I would be able to get new inspiration for my work . In the future I would like to see myself making artwork for albums of music like Will Cotton, who painted Katy Perry's album cover of Teenage dream .
